More about Elsa a 1954 Bentley R Type

The Bentley wings are recognized around the world as a sign of exceptional craftsmanship, exhilarating performance and a fascinating century-long story. By the 1930s, Bentley’s Derby-built ‘silent sports cars’ had become lower and sleeker. So in 1933, artist Charles Sykes, the designer of the Rolls-Royce Spirit of Ecstasy, was commissioned to create a new mascot. Sykes designed the forward-leaning ‘B’ in the Art Deco style, with facets that allowed the ‘B’ to read correctly when viewed from either side.

The Bentley R Type is the second series of post-war Bentley automobiles, replacing the Mark VI. Essentially a larger-boot version of the Mk VI. Other than the radiator grilles and the carburation there was little difference between the standard Bentley R Type and the Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn. The R Type was the more popular marque.

Elsa has literally seen the word. This righthand driver was originally building in England before coming to the United States. After an extensive restoration Elsa has been in a number of car shows including being transported to Dubai on more than one occasion.
